The Best Wedding Songs

There are many tasks that go into planning a wedding, and the playlist is one of the more fun tasks that you will take part in. However, it can be difficult to know how to make the best playlist. Here are some tips that might help you through the process.

Start your search in advance

If you don’t give yourself enough time to plan your play list, you could find yourself adding more stress to your plate. It will most likely take you more time than you think to choose which songs you want for your wedding, so starting early is a good idea to make sure that you get your song list completed on time. Not to mention that once you choose your songs you will need to get the timing down and edit the length and timing of the songs to match the ceremony. You will also have to make a list for your reception and other times during the day in order for everything to run smoothly. Getting your song list done early will allow time for other tasks you need to get completed and you can rest easy knowing that you have one less thing to worry about.

Plan it out

Breaking down your ceremony will help you choose which songs you want to use and when. You will likely need several lists to get you through the day. You can break your songs lists down to categories such as pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner/reception, and the after party. Knowing what sections you are breaking up your ceremony into will help you figure out what songs to choose depending on the mood you want to set. Most likely you will want to spend the most time on the songs that you want to use during the ceremony, especially the song for walking down the aisle.
Choose songs that are meaningful to you as a couple and will bring special meaning to your ceremony. For the pre-ceremony songs, choosing songs that are shorter and mellower will help set the tone for the ceremony to come. For cocktail hour, reception, and dinner playlists, choosing songs that are more “happy” and upbeat will set the tone for the dance party that is to come. However, you will want to still keep the songs somewhat low-key so that your guests can enjoy their time and their dinner while socializing with guests. For the dance party playlist, go all out! Choose whatever songs you want to that you think will get everyone out on the dance floor and ready to party!
